Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy helps children and adults participate more successfully and independently in the activities that make up everyday life.

At Advanced Therapy Solutions, our occupational therapists work with each person to understand what is difficult, why it is difficult, and what skills or supports may help improve participation and independence.

Occupational Therapy for Children

Children learn and develop through play, movement, daily routines, and participation at home, school, and in the community. When sensory, motor, developmental, or other challenges make these activities difficult, occupational therapy can help.

Our pediatric occupational therapists evaluate and treat concerns including:

  • Fine motor and hand skills
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Coordination and motor planning
  • Handwriting and school-related skills
  • Dressing and other self-care activities
  • Feeding-related skills
  • Play and participation
  • Attention and regulation during everyday activities
  • Development of greater independence with daily routines

We work with children with a variety of developmental needs and diagnoses, including autism and ADHD, as well as children who may not have a specific diagnosis but are having difficulty with everyday skills.

Therapy is based on the individual child's strengths, needs, and the activities that are most important to the child and family.

Occupational Therapy for Adults

Illness, injury, surgery, neurological conditions, or other changes in health can make everyday activities more difficult.

Our occupational therapists help adults improve, regain, or adapt the skills needed to participate as safely and independently as possible in daily life.

Adult occupational therapy may address:

  • Dressing, bathing, grooming, and other self-care activities
  • Fine motor and hand function
  • Upper-extremity function
  • Coordination
  • Strength and endurance needed for everyday activities
  • Changes in function following illness, injury, or surgery
  • Difficulties associated with neurological conditions
  • Safety and independence with daily routines
  • Returning to meaningful home, work, and community activities

Treatment focuses on the activities that matter to the individual. Depending on the person's needs, therapy may focus on restoring skills, developing new strategies, adapting activities, or improving independence.

Not Sure If Occupational Therapy Is the Right Service?

You don't need to know exactly which type of therapy you need before contacting us.

Tell us what you or your child is having difficulty doing. Our team can help determine whether an occupational therapy evaluation is appropriate or whether another service may better address your concerns.
